CSUN Graduate and Creator of “De Pueblo, Católico y Gay” Podcast
Eder Díaz Santillan successfully completed his thesis work this year and graduated with honors from CSUNs Journalism & Mass Communications program. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from California State University, went on to work within a Spanish-language radio station for a few years, and ultimately returned to CSUN to achieve his Masters.
His thesis work focused on the podcast he created, “De Pueblo, Católico y Gay,” one of the first Spanish-language podcasts dedicated to elevating stories of the Latinx LGBTQ community. @depueblocatolicoygay has since grown in its interviews and listeners, and you can easily find it in any of your favorite podcast apps.
I was honored not only to graduate with this fellow student (during a pandemic!) but to also document his official 2021 Graduate portraits. Congratulations again and again Eder! I look forward to our paths crossing in the future.
